Strain Description 1. homozygous mice are viable, but the frequency is lower (~15%) than expected; due to α2B‐AR deficiency in the placenta, neonates are prone to die after labor.
2. Characteristrics of homozygotes are as follows,
(A) The spatial expression pattern of α2B‐AR encoded by Adra2b is mapped to brain (septum, thalamus, cochlear nucleus, cerebellum), spinal cord (dorsal root ganglia) and placenta.
(B) α2B‐AR is colocalized with μ‐opioid receptor in the thalamus.
(C) Exhibit normal pain transmission.
(D) Exhibit normal morphine rewarding in conditional place preference, but is abnormal in naltrexone‐precipitated withdrawal syndromes
(E) the litter size is small
